Tucson Gem, Mineral & Fossil Showcase

For two weeks every winter, the world meets in Tucson as it becomes a bustling, international marketplace of buyers and sellers at the Tucson Gem, Mineral & Fossil Showcase.

The "Gem Show" is much more than a single event at one location. Rather, there are thousands of participants and attendees at more than 40 sites around town. Dozens of shows take place at the same time - in giant white tents, at hotels and resorts and at exhibit halls.

There's something for everyone at the many open-to-the-public shows - from gold and diamonds to granite bookends and glass beads, and from fine specimens of dinosaur fossils to opals dug from the Australian Outback.

The main event of this two-week showcase is the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show™ which packs downtown's Tucson Convention Center over the final weekend. This show attracts thousands of treasure hunters from every corner of the globe and is open to the public. There are displays from renowned museums and private collections along with over 250 mineral, gemstone, jewelry and fossil retail dealers. It also features hands-on exhibits only for school children.

Accenture Match Play Championship
The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain

Come February the eyes of golf will fall on Southern Arizona. The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain is the home of the World Golf Championships - Accenture Match Play Championship. The world's top 64 golfers will try to etch their names in the history book of this exciting tournament. Billed as the cornerstone of the World Golf Championships, the five-day tournament will take place in Marana - just north of Tucson - and features an $8 million purse. Regional and local charities such as The First Tee program will also benefit.

La Fiesta de los Vaqueros (Tucson Rodeo)

The Tucson Rodeo, or La Fiesta de los Vaqueros (Celebration of the Cowboy), is one of the top 25 professional rodeos in North America. Located at the Tucson Rodeo Grounds.
The Tucson Rodeo Parade is billed as the world’s longest non-motorized parade. This two-hour spectacle features western-themed floats and buggies, historic horse-drawn coaches, festive Mexican folk dancers, marching bands and outfitted riders. An estimated 200,000 spectators view the parade each year.

HITS Arizona Winter Circuit
Event Location: 11300 S. Houghton Rd., Tucson, AZ 85747
Held at the Pima County Fairgrounds in the heart of the Arizona desert, the six-week Arizona Winter Circuit has been a staple of West Coast circuits for many years. When the facility is set up for the HITS shows, there are five show rings and multiple schooling rings for hunter, jumper and equitation classes. Classes offered range from grand prix show jumping classes to a selection of divisions for both the novice and experienced rider. In all, HITS Arizona offers six grand prix events worth $240,000 in prize money.
